Itinerary*

Day 1

Fly into Berlin airport and check into our city centre hotel.  In the afternoon we will visit the Sportforum Hohenschӧnhausen, the home to one of German football's most controversial and historic clubs BFC Dynamo that had close ties with the Stasi.  We will discover the history of this club that won 10 consecutive DDR-Oberliga titles between 1978-1988 through a Q&A session with a BFC Dynamo club representative at their clubhouse.

Day 2

After breakfast we will commence our Hertha Berlin themed tour by visiting the site of their original stadium, the Plumpe.  Our German football expert Kit Holden will then provide a talk on the history of Hertha Berlin at a Hertha associated bar that is clad with memorabilia.  Kit will then take us to the historic Poststadion, the only stadium that Adolf Hitler attended to watch a football match at the 1936 Olympics.  Our tour will be completed with a visit to the Berlin Wall Memorial.

In the afternoon we will watch the Hertha Berlin host Holstein Kiel at the stunning Olympiastadion.

Day 3

On Sunday our focus switches to the club with one of the strongest fan cultures, FC Union Berlin.  Kit will take us on a guided walk of Kopenick, the home town of FC Union Berlin in the southeast of Berlin.  There is no one more equipped to lead us on our discovery of the heritage of FC Union Berlin than Kit having written the book 'Scheisse! We're Going Up' detailing the rise of this unique  community club from the 4th tier in 2005 to the Bundesliga in 2019.

In the afternoon we will walk to the club's stadium that was revonated by oover 2,000 volunteer fans in order for the club to meet requirements for pomotion to the Bundesliga 2 in 2008.  We will enjoy the match day experience at the Stadion An der Alten Fӧrsterei watching the women's team take on Bayern Munich.

Day 4

Recap on your trip highlights with your new friends over breakfast before making your way home.  If you book an evening flight back you will have the opportunity to explore more of Berlin and perhaps visit some of the excellent museums.

*This is the intended itinerary and may change as it is subject to the finalisation of the fixtures around three weeks before the trip.  The content of the itinerary should not change however the running order could.  Should the two fixtures detailed above clash we will prioritise the Hertha Berlin match and replace the FC Union Berlin fixture with an alternative in the Berlin region.
